This project focuses on practical and engineered solutions within agricultural machinery by attempting to solve the problem of separating agricultural planting carbon intensity from food security. The main goal is to design a system that balances carbon emissions and agricultural productivity by optimizing resource use in planting processes. The system designed for this project will apply the fundamentals of precision agriculture and use sensors to control the variable and selective application of fertilizers, water, and pesticides. The goal of this project is to improve the efficiency of agricultural machines by lowering the overall fuel consumption and inputs used, which will in turn reduce the overall carbon emissions produced per unit

of food. The project will focus on choosing the right components and the design of control algorithms for the automated delivery of inputs with a first approximation on the impact on environmental sustainability and food productivity. This project will develop a conceptual design that will improve the practices of sustainable agriculture and offer solutions to developing climate-smart food systems and long-term food security through optimized resource management and improved operational efficiency of the machines. The design will focus on B. Tech level applications for implementation and results.
