| Abstract |
This study focuses on the design and the flight tests of a new small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a flying wing design. The design exploits the benefits of a flying wing such as lower aerodynamic drag making it more suitable for long endurance missions including observation, surveillance, and search and rescue missions. The design approach attempts to achieve stability without the use of vertical stabilizers or other artificial stabilization systems, which could reduce aerodynamic efficiency. The project includes elaborated design and analysis to achieve the necessary stability in both static and dynamic aerodynamic performance. Flight tests are designed to demonstrate the functionality and stability of the configuration under various
