This study presents the first detailed pharmacognostic and physicochemical analyses of Argyreia pilosa Wight & Arn leaves and aims to document the scientific basis for identification and quality control analyses. The study offers a detailed methodology involving a macroscopic and microscopic analysis of leaf and epidermal cells, stomatal types, and multicellular covering trichomes. Anatomical studies explain the organization of collenchyma and the arrangement of conjoint, collateral closed vascular bundles, providing substantive diagnostic features. Observations from powder microscopy define specific cellular components. Quantitative leaf microscopy and fluorescence analysis provide an understanding of the chemical-structural properties of the plant. Equally, the purity and quality of the material are evaluated by determining essential

physicochemical attributes (loss on drying, total ash, acid-insoluble ash, water-soluble ash, and extractive values). An initial screening of the secondary metabolites involved is also carried out for phytochemical analyses. Together, the first detailed study provides a pharmacognostic profile and a physicochemical fingerprint on Argyreia pilosa, which is crucial for the authentication and standardization for biotechnological and biomedical engineering studies, including the development of new therapeutic agents or biomaterials, the exploration of bioactive constituents.
