Abstract

This research paper details the methodologies and computational studies related to the analysis of aircraft, particularly the design of transport aircraft. There have been dramatic changes over the last thirty years regarding the ways computers are used to study the behavior of fluids in various branches of science and engineering. One of the most advanced methods is Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), where fluid flow is analyzed virtually through computer models of geometry. Traditionally, CFD was limited to the automotive and aerospace sectors due to the high processing requirements and software costs. However, personal computers with higher processing speeds have made it possible to run most CFD models on a desktop

computer. Fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, and chemical reactions can be analyzed with CFD in various industrial fields including food, water, maritime, automotive, aeronautical, and gas turbine design. CFD can evaluate new designs or processes before construction, thereby enhancing the development and design cycles for transport aircraft.
