| Abstract |
This study assesses Lake Maninjau's water quality status; an important water body in the ecosystem, but vulnerable to climate change and human activities. The focus was on assessing the water quality over time (2022-2025) to aid restoration and to address Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6. Surface water samples were collected twice a year from 6 locations to adequately represent the entire lake using grab sampling. Core physicochemical constituents were analyzed: i.e. pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), and phosphates (PO4). Analysis followed the procedures of the applicable Indonesian National Standard and the relevant international standard. The Pollution Index method published
by the Decree of the Minister of State for the Environment Number 115 of 2003 was used to assess water quality. Water quality status and changes were observed over time. The first sample in 2022 recorded a water quality status between good and minor pollution. There was a drop in water quality between 2023 and 2024 where most locations were of minor pollution. The last sample for the year 2025 recorded an improvement in all locations. The study creates an important foundation for the preservation and management of the environment surrounding Lake Maninjau.
