Integrated Hydrological Assessment Urban Drainage Project Details

Abstract

This research evaluates the problems of urban drainage systems and flood problems in Sinjai City. The author uses a descriptive-analytical approach combining relevant hydrological data and rainfall data, land use change, and topographic data related to the drainage systems being analyzed. It was found that many drainage systems are smaller than the new drainage systems required to receive rainfall runoff, especially during heavy rainfall. Factors causing this include reduced ability to absorb, low channel gradient, sedimentation, and changes in land use. The author’s Integrated approach provides a method for assessing drainage structures against hydrological parameters in situations where traditional analytical models are not available. The author recommends civil works (rehabilitation

of drainage systems) and green civil works (construction of retention ponds, use of permeable surfaces, and zoning and watershed management) to improve land drainage, green infrastructure, and watershed management. This study provides the baseline for scaling urban resilience and infrastructure with Sustainable Development Goals 11 and 13.
