Passive safety light vehicles – Project Details
| Abstract |
The transition toward sustainable urban mobility has accelerated the adoption of lightweight electric quadricycles classified under L6 and L7 categories. While these vehicles offer reduced manufacturing and operational environmental footprints, their structural safety remains a critical area of investigation. This project provides implementation support for evaluating the passive safety of a light electric vehicle frame under various impact velocities using Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations. The structural response of the front frame assembly is analyzed to determine deformation patterns, energy absorption capabilities, and cabin integrity during crash scenarios. By modeling the vehicle chassis under dynamic loading conditions, the study establishes the relationship between impact velocity and structural deceleration. The research
direction assists in validating the crashworthiness of lightweight materials and frame geometries, offering structural design guidance to optimize passenger safety. Through systematic simulation, the project aids in identifying critical stress concentration zones and potential failure modes, thereby contributing to the development of safer, lightweight urban electric vehicles that comply with evolving safety standards.
