Design Simulation Building Testing Microcontroller-Based Project Details

Abstract

This research addresses vehicular safety challenges associated with driver fatigue and drowsiness, which represent a primary catalyst for traffic accidents globally. The study presents the design, simulation, and physical implementation of an integrated microcontroller-based driver drowsiness detection, alert, and automatic braking system. Utilizing an Arduino-based control architecture, the system continuously monitors driver alertness through non-invasive sensor inputs, such as eye-blink duration or facial tracking parameters. Upon detecting prolonged eye closure indicative of microsleep or fatigue, the microcontroller initiates a multi-stage safety protocol. This protocol first triggers audible and visual alerts to warn the driver, followed by the activation of an automated braking mechanism to safely decelerate the vehicle. The methodology

encompasses system modeling, Proteus-based circuit simulation, hardware prototyping, and empirical testing under controlled scenarios. By bridging the gap between active driver monitoring and automated chassis control, this project provides a structured framework for developing low-cost, reliable active safety systems in modern electric and conventional vehicles. The research offers valuable implementation support and technical guidance for evaluating sensor-to-actuator latency and braking efficiency in embedded automotive applications.
