Vector Control Multimotor Drive Introduction Project Details
| Abstract |
This research framework tackles the design and control problems of systems that use several machines or multiphase motors. In industry, threeβphase induction motors have mostly replaced traditional DC drives because they are tough and need little upkeep. By applying fieldβoriented control (FOC), these AC motors can be driven with the same independent control that separately excited DC motors provide. To get around the power limits of semiconductor devices and to make the system more reliable, the study looks at a dual threeβphase inductionβmotor drive that connects the motors in parallel. The setup combines a Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) and a Current Source Inverter (CSI) to power the parallel motors using
a single vectorβcontrol scheme. The approach also moves from using several inverters for threeβphase systems to a single multiphase motor. This change brings better fault tolerance, lower torque ripple, and more even power sharing. Simulation models are presented to guide the assessment of dynamic behavior, speedβtorque curves, and decoupling performance for both the parallelβmotor drive and the integrated multiphase machine during transient and steadyβstate operation.
