TDMA-Based LoRa IoT Architecture FreeRTOS Project Details
| Abstract |
Monitoring the health of bridges and other civil structures needs sensor nodes that are reliable, lowβpower, and able to send data in real time. Conventional wireless sensor networks often run into packet collisions and unpredictable delays when many nodes are added. This project shows how to build a multiβnode bridge monitoring system that uses a TimeβDivision Multiple Access (TDMA) protocol on a Long Range (LoRa) radio link. Each node runs FreeRTOS on its microcontroller, which gives precise task scheduling, fixedβinterval sensor sampling, and collisionβfree transmission. The design links several nodesβeach with an accelerometer and a strain gaugeβto a central gateway. The TDMA schedule stops the nodes from talking over each
other, so packet delivery stays high and latency stays predictable. The guide helps students put together the hardware and software, set up the realβtime operating system tasks, and sync the TDMA frames. The end result is a robust, scalable, and energyβefficient way to continuously monitor key bridge parameters, useful as a handsβon reference for IoTβbased industrial instrumentation.
