potentiality feasibility hybrid renewable energy remote Project Details
| Abstract |
This study looks at whether a hybrid renewable power system can work in the remote Jimma Zone of Ethiopia, where many villages are not connected to the grid. The system combines solar panels, a small hydro turbine, and a biomass generator. Local resources were measured: the area receives about 5.16 kWh per square meter per day of sunlight, a nearby river can provide a flow of 1.22 mΒ³/s (estimated with the empirical areaβratio method), and about 1.35 tons of biogas feedstock are available each day. Using the HOMER software, we built a model that can supply a peak load of roughly 116 kW. The model includes an 18 kW solar
PV array, the microβhydro turbine, and the biomass generator to keep power available at all times. The simulation calculates the net present cost, the cost of energy, and the emissions for the hybrid setup. The work offers a stepβbyβstep method for assessing multiβsource renewable microgrids and can help planners and policymakers design rural electrification projects in developing countries.
