Circular economy construction digital transformation is a M.Tech project topic for Environmental Engineering. It gives students a clear starting point for research, implementation planning, and documentation.
Circular economy construction digital transformation Project Details
| Abstract |
This project looks at how digital technologies can be combined with circularβeconomy ideas in the built environment. It examines the role of openβBIM, digital twins, material passports, and blockchain in tracking and reclaiming construction materials throughout their life cycles. Digital tools work very well during design and construction, but using them on existing or endβofβlife structures is difficult because retrofitting is costly and many older projects lack digital records. To close this gap, the study proposes a framework that includes local material banks and digital inventory protocols for existing buildings. It also explores how Design for Disassembly (DfD) tools and RFID tags can improve material traceability. By assessing the circularity
of current Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) databases, the research offers clear guidance for creating unified digital strategies for sustainable waste management. The resulting evaluation model helps environmental engineers recover more resources, cut demolition waste, and set up standard digital workflows for circular building lifecycles.
