Engineering planar antenna geometry arrangements Project Details
| Abstract |
This project studies how to design, fineβtune, and test planar antennas that use advanced shapes to meet the tough demands of todayβs wireless and satellite systems. Planar antennasβespecially microstrip patch antennasβare popular because they sit flat, fit easily into devices, and are cheap to make. Getting them to work on several frequency bands, deliver high gain, and cover a wide bandwidth is still hard. To tackle this, the work looks at three kinds of shape changes: * fractal geometries, * defected ground structures (DGS), and * parasitic patches. Electromagnetic simulation software models each antenna and evaluates return loss, radiation patterns, gain, and voltage standingβwave ratio (VSWR) over the desired frequency
bands. The design process runs systematic parametric sweeps of the geometric dimensions to find the best settings for satellite transponders and groundβbased wireless links. The resulting design framework gives engineers a clear way to balance antenna size against radiation efficiency, providing practical guidance for building the next generation of communication systems.
