Threats & Trade-offs Start-up Simulation Project Details
| Abstract |
This research looks at the clash between fast product development and strong cybersecurity in earlyβstage startups. Startups often have very limited resources, so leaders must choose between launching quickly and exposing security gaps. To study this, we built a simulation framework based on the βThreats & Tradeβoffsβ method. The system uses gameβtheoretic ideas and quantitative risk assessment to model different operating scenarios, threat environments, and strategic options. By turning the decision process into a multiβstage simulation game, the framework checks how security spending versus new features affect a startupβs survival and value over time. The method adds random threat modeling, asset valuation, and vulnerability propagation to mimic real startup lifecycles.
Running many simulations lets the platform compare proactive defenses with reactive incident response under different budget limits. In the end, this simulation gives a structured way to look at riskβreward tradeβoffs and helps decide the best way to allocate resources among technical debt, security compliance, and market competition.
