ADVANCED RECYCLING REUSE METALLURGICAL WASTES is a M.Tech project topic for Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. It gives students a clear starting point for research, implementation planning, and documentation.
ADVANCED RECYCLING REUSE METALLURGICAL WASTES Project Details
| Abstract |
This project evaluates how to recycle, reuse, and add value to several kinds of metallurgical wasteβsteel slags, mine tailings, redβmud (bauxite residues), and metallurgical dusts or sludges. Using circularβeconomy ideas, it looks at the mechanical, chemical, and environmental performance of these secondary materials when they are turned into construction products, sources of highβvalue resources, or advanced functional materials. For an M.Techβlevel study, the work concentrates on three main tasks: – **Steelβslag substitution** β test how well steel slags can replace traditional ingredients in cementβbased mixes. – **Metal extraction** β fineβtune hydrometallurgical or pyrometallurgical conditions to recover base metals, aiming for yields between 70 % and 95 %. – **Geopolymer and
composite synthesis** β develop highβperformance geopolymers and composite materials from the waste streams. The project also measures the possible carbonβreduction benefit, which can reach up to 25 % lower COβ emissions. It examines the thermodynamic and kinetic limits that affect reagent use and energy consumption. Finally, the study provides stepβbyβstep guidance for simulating and modeling the chemical phase changes and leaching behavior of heavy metals, giving a solid analytical base for sustainable material processing and industrial waste management.
