Analysis Unbalanced Magnetic Pull Solid Project Details
| Abstract |
This project investigates the electromagnetic and mechanical dynamics of a high-speed, 1MW three-phase solid rotor induction motor utilized within a marine waste heat recovery steam turbogenerator. The primary focus is on analyzing the unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP) forces generated by rotor eccentricity and evaluating their subsequent impact on a five-degree-of-freedom (5-DOF) active magnetic bearing (AMB) control system. To achieve this, a comprehensive engineering model is developed by integrating finite element method (FEM) electromagnetic simulations with multi-body rotor dynamics. The FEM-derived UMP and AMB forces are incorporated into a harmonic force analysis framework to evaluate system vibrations and closed-loop stability under eccentric conditions. Time-stepping simulations are executed to model the coupled
behavior of the rotor, the AMB controller, and the non-linear magnetic forces. The research provides a structured methodology for assessing the robustness of AMB systems subjected to severe external disturbances and rotor eccentricity, offering critical insights for the design and vibration mitigation of high-speed hermetic turbogenerators.
