Abstract

This study examines how artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven solutions can be used to improve indoor environmental quality (IEQ) and energy efficiency simultaneously in building systems. The main goal is to create smart technology that addresses the multifaceted problem of occupant comfort and environmental concern. This study focuses on key IEQ factors such as thermal comfort and air quality, while also using a systematic review of existing studies involving AI, machine learning (ML), and digital twin technologies in relation to the monitoring, forecasting, and management of IEQ. This study focuses on AI and ML approaches to forecasting and controlling variables, both continuous and categorical, in IEQ. This study emphasizes the

use of AI, BIM, and the Internet of Things (IoT) for real-time evaluation and adaptive control of building systems. This study also addresses the challenges of data quality, interoperability, and usability that have limited the development of highly intelligent building management systems that can dynamically optimize IEQ.
