Circular economy approaches carbon fiber-reinforced is a B.Tech project topic for Environmental Engineering. It gives students a clear starting point for research, implementation planning, and documentation.
Circular economy approaches carbon fiber-reinforced Project Details
| Abstract |
This project gives research direction and handsβon help for studying circularβeconomy options for carbonβfiberβreinforced polymers (CFRPs). Global CFRP waste is expected to grow a lot, so we need sustainable ways to handle it at the end of its life. We review and model three main recycling approaches: mildβchemical solvolysis, hybrid thermalβchemical processes, and new biological degradation methods. The framework walks students through comparing these methods in terms of fiber recovery rate, how well the mechanical properties are kept, and the energy used. We also set up a simple Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) so students can measure the environmental advantage of recycled carbon fibers versus producing new (virgin) fibers. By looking
at the variety of feedstock, the process conditions, and the system boundaries, the project points out realistic paths for reusing highβvalue fibers in automotive, construction, and consumerβgoods products. The stepβbyβstep guidance helps B.Tech students build a full materialβflow model and an environmental impact assessment, linking labβscale recycling chemistry to the feasibility of industrialβscale waste management.
