Circular Economy E‐Waste Management Comprehensive Project Details

Abstract

This project provides structured guidance for analyzing global trends and implementing localized circular economy frameworks for electronic waste (e-waste) management. Driven by the exponential rise in global e-waste—which is projected to exceed 82 million tonnes by 2030—and the critical raw material (CRM) supply constraints, this study establishes a systematic methodology to evaluate circularity pathways. Utilizing bibliometric insights and systematic literature review methodologies spanning 2005 to 2026, the project outlines the design of a localized material flow analysis (MFA) tool. The framework integrates the Antecedents-Decisions-Outcomes (ADO) and Theory-Context-Characteristics-Methodology (TCCM) structures to map the lifecycle of consumer electronics. Students are guided through the development of a decision-support model that evaluates the feasibility

of urban mining, collection efficiency, and material recovery rates. By translating high-level bibliometric trends into practical engineering parameters, this resource supports the implementation of closed-loop recycling systems, policy alignment, and resource recovery optimization. The resulting framework serves as a technical blueprint for assessing e-waste processing capacities and designing sustainable recovery strategies in municipal or regional contexts.
