Embedding Prediction Helps Image Generation Project Details
| Abstract |
This research-oriented project explores the implementation of Next-Embedding Predictive Autoregression (NEPA) to optimize diffusion transformer (DiT) architectures for image generation tasks. Traditional diffusion models rely on static class or text embeddings that remain unchanged across denoising steps. To address this limitation, this work investigates a dynamic conditioning mechanism where a secondary Transformer network predicts continuous embedding sequences. By utilizing Multi-Embedding Prediction, the system forecasts the clean image embeddings directly from the noisy state, allowing the DiT generator to adapt its conditioning signal dynamically at each denoising interval. The project focuses on evaluating the computational efficiency, training convergence, and generation quality of the NEPA-DiT framework. Specifically, the methodology analyzes the trade-offs
between the added computational overhead of the secondary predictive network and the reduction in overall training compute required to achieve high-fidelity image synthesis. Through simulation and quantitative evaluation using metrics such as FrΓ©chet Inception Distance (FID), this research provides structured guidance for deploying advanced generative models on resource-constrained computing platforms, bridging the gap between high-performance diffusion models and efficient Edge AI deployment.
