Experimental Study Uniaxial Compression Mechanics is a M.Tech project topic for Civil Engineering. It gives students a clear starting point for research, implementation planning, and documentation.
Experimental Study Uniaxial Compression Mechanics Project Details
| Abstract |
This research project looks at how surfaceβcracked rock behaves and fails under uniaxial compression. Surfaceβfractured rock serves as a typical threeβdimensional fracture case, so we develop a mechanical failure model that includes crack initiation, propagation, and the combined deformation of rock microβelements. Standard rock specimens are prepared with horizontal surface fissures of different depths. Using the RMT rockβmechanics test system, we run systematic uniaxial compression tests on these samples. The complete stressβstrain curves reveal how fissure depth affects overall rock strength, elasticity, and deformation. The project also guides students through the progressive failure modes, crackβpropagation paths, and final collapse mechanisms of nonβthrough fractures. By linking the experimental stressβstrain data to
microβelement deformation theory, this framework supports research in underground engineering, rockβslope stability, and geotechnical hazard mitigation, providing a solid method for evaluating the stability of damaged rock masses.
