| Abstract |
The 60 GHz millimeter-wave (mmW) frequency bands have great potential for short-range, low-power wireless communication links that This potential features the development of short-range, low-power point-to-point links capable of reaching data rates of 10 Gbit/s. High-throughput wireless communication is needed in emerging applications, especially for contactless testing and connector-less board-to-board communications. One of the most significant challenges to developing high-throughput communication links is integrating in-band full-duplex (IBFD) communications. This type of communication is defined as the ability of a single terminal to transmit and receive within the same frequency band, and because of this, significant self-interference occurs. Self-interference (SI) is the interference caused by the transmitter and receiver in the
terminal, which can interfere with the demodulation of the desired signal and cause a significant, detrimental effect. In order for IBFD to become a reality, significant self-interference suppression must be attained. A solution to this problem is the construction of a compact and low-power IBFD transceiver for the 60 GHz band. One of the most important considerations for IBFD transceivers is self-interference cancellation. The goal is to provide adequate self-interference cancellation for compact, short-range full-duplex links, to meet the goal of implementing mmW IBFD technology. This includes the development of a comprehensive system architecture that incorporates efficient self-interference management within a limited volume.
