Modeling optimization battery-based energy storage Project Details
| Abstract |
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have limited energy during many flight missions, so they need very efficient and fastβresponding storage systems. This research tackles that problem by modeling and optimizing batteryβbased storage with equivalent electrical circuits. The model, built in MATLAB, captures how lithiumβion batteries react electrically when flight conditions and power demands change. To reduce voltage swings and improve response under highβload situations, the study examines a hybrid setup that adds a supercapacitor to the main Liβion battery. Simulations show that this hybrid arrangement keeps voltage more stable and makes the system handle aggressive operating regimes better. The paper provides a solid numerical framework for hybrid energy architectures, but testing
on actual UAV hardware is still required before realβworld use. Fried Engineers offers academic guidance and support so students can analyze, model, and simulate these hybrid storage systems for aerospace applications.
