Post-pandemic building resilience Building Information Project Details

Abstract

This research investigates the synergistic integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM), green building design principles, and post-pandemic resilience strategies to foster the development of sustainable and healthy building environments. While the impact of BIM on green building practices has been previously examined, its specific role in addressing post-COVID-19 challenges remains an area requiring further exploration. This study addresses this knowledge gap by introducing a novel 'Green BIM post-pandemic square' taxonomy. This taxonomy is developed through a comprehensive literature review spanning from 1999 to 2024 and an evaluation of existing BIM software capabilities. The framework systematically categorizes project phases, green building attributes, BIM functionalities, and critical post-pandemic considerations, thereby elucidating the

intricate connections between BIM, green building methodologies, and the evolving demands of post-pandemic cycles. The research demonstrates how BIM significantly enhances various stages of a building's lifecycle, including design, construction, operation, and retrofitting, by facilitating the incorporation of green attributes. Furthermore, BIM is shown to be instrumental in scrutinizing key green building parameters, such as energy efficiency and supply chain management, contributing to robust Green Building Evaluations (GBE). The findings highlight BIM's substantial potential in advancing sustainability, improving occupant health outcomes, and bolstering supply chain resilience within the built environment. This synthesis of data provides valuable guidance for building researchers and practitioners, identifying current research gaps and proposing future initiatives

for integrated building solutions.
