The experimental framework investigates the influence of critical operational parameters, including salt bridge concentration (1 M, 2 M, and 3 M), temperature ranges (20 to 45 °C), and pH levels (4 to 10), on the system's overall performance. Utilizing a Box-Behnken experimental design (BBD), the optimization process identifies the ideal environmental conditions for maximizing both voltage production and organic contaminant removal. Under the optimized conditions of 32.5 °C, pH 7, and a 3 M salt bridge concentration, the system achieves a peak voltage output of
0.88 V. Furthermore, the MFC demonstrates high treatment efficiency, yielding a 93.58% reduction in Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and a 93.07% reduction in Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5).
