Prototype chemical analysis process intensification is a M.Tech project topic for Chemical Engineering. It gives students a clear starting point for research, implementation planning, and documentation.
Prototype chemical analysis process intensification Project Details
| Abstract |
Process intensification in chemical engineering needs small, sensitive, and modular tools that can watch microβtotalβanalysis systems (microTAS) and multiphase flows. This work tackles the demand for cheap, portable detectors by building a prototype that uses a Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) with piezoelectric quartz crystals (PQC). The device works over a wide frequency rangeβfrom a few tens of kilohertz up to almost a gigahertzβand it can sense volatile organicβcompound (VOC) vapors, droplets, and suspended particles in gas streams. A notable part of the design is its modular layout, which lets it take simultaneous readings at five separate points. Those points can be spaced several centimeters apart, making it possible to map
concentration profiles or flow behavior. The paper shows that the prototype is portable, inexpensive, and capable of multiβpoint sensing. However, it provides only limited data on longβterm stability in corrosive chemical environments and on how selectively it can detect complex VOC mixtures. Overall, the system offers a solid starting point for M.Tech students who want to explore sensor integration, signal processing, and spatial monitoring in intensified chemical processes.
