SIMULATION EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION DUAL THREE-PHASE Project Details
| Abstract |
This project offers a complete simulation and evaluation framework for a dual threeβphase (DTP) brushless DC motor (BLDCM) that works under uneven modular loading. Using a stator made of several threeβphase winding sets gives better fault tolerance and efficiency for selfβpowered electric vehicles. But when the electrical load is not the same across the modules, and the winding sets magnetically interact with each other, the motorβs electromagnetic torque ripples become much larger. The work guides you through building a circular model of a DTP permanentβmagnet machine in Matlab/Simulink. The model is based on finiteβelement analysis (FEA) data from a real prototype. It then systematically studies torqueβripple behavior for different loadβimbalance
cases, comparing results with and without the magnetic coupling between winding sets. The analysis is done for both openβloop and closedβloop control setups. For M.Tech students, this project provides a clear, stepβbyβstep methodology and the necessary component details to study and reduce torque pulsations in multiphase modular drives. The ultimate goal is to help create electric propulsion systems that are highly reliable.
