
A strong methodology records the reasoning, materials and procedures behind your evidence—not merely a list of tools.
For every research question, state what evidence is needed and which method will produce it. Remove steps that do not serve a question.
Explain why an experiment, simulation, survey, case study or mixed design fits the claim better than realistic alternatives.
Record selection criteria, sample size logic, specimen preparation, operating ranges, controls and environmental conditions.
Identify equipment, sensors, calibration, settings, software versions and important parameters so the setup is not ambiguous.
Write the sequence, timing, repeats, exclusions and quality checks. A competent researcher should know exactly how each result was obtained.
Define metrics, comparisons, uncertainty treatment and statistical or qualitative procedures before seeing the final outcomes.
Address approvals, consent, privacy, hazards, data protection and foreseeable limits. Document justified changes instead of hiding them.
