| Abstract |
This study considers the use of advanced Lean Automation (LA) principles on automobile oil seal manufacturing, building on the initial components of Lean Management (LM) such as Value, Value Stream, Flow, Pull, and Perfection. The purpose of this study is to process all inputs and eliminate waste to maximize the efficiency of operational processes and to reach the ideal state of production. The study integrates some advanced LA techniques with particular emphasis on the use of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) for in-plant logistics and Jidoka's Karakuri. The primary goal of this integration is to facilitate improved material flow and handling, and to achieve energy and carbon savings. Significant changes include
the improvement of logistical efficiency and the removal of severe fatigue operations performed by packers as well as the use of non-powered slide racks to facilitate the transfer of materials. These changes brought about an improvement in the working conditions of those employees that were responsible for annotating tallies and reduced the need for all of the manual labor that was previously required, demonstrating the practicality of achieving waste-free production in a manufacturing environment.
