Use Geo-synthetic Fiber Strengthening Sub Project Details
| Abstract |
This project studies how geoβsynthetic fibers change the strength and stability of weak subgrade soils used in highway construction. Weak subgrade soils often have low bearing capacity and swell or shrink when they get wet, which can cause early pavement cracks and higher maintenance costs. To tackle these problems, the research adds lightweight polymer fibers to the subgrade layer, placing them just below the granular subβbase. Lab testsβStandard Proctor compaction, California Bearing Ratio (CBR), and direct shearβmeasure how different fiber amounts and placement patterns affect the soilβs shear strength and loadβbearing capacity. The experiments aim to find the best fiberβsoil mix that gives the highest dry density and better resistance
to penetration. By linking fiberβreinforcement details to subgrade stability, the study offers a clear method for cutting pavement thickness and lowering longβterm maintenance needs. The results give practical design advice for using synthetic polymers as sustainable, highβperformance reinforcement in modern road infrastructure.
