closed-loop utilization engineering waste mud sites Project Details
| Abstract |
The study looks at the environmental problems and loss of land caused by mud from construction waste. It tests a method that treats and recycles the mud right at the construction site, creating a closed loop. The method adds chemicals in two steps. First, Polyaluminum Chloride (PAC) is introduced, then Anionic Polyacrylamide (APAM). These chemicals cause the mud particles to clump together, making it easier to separate the water from the solid part. The solid part, now mostly waterβfree, is used as the main ingredient for a type of engineered soil called fluidized solidified soil. The experiments check how any leftover chemicals in the solid affect its mechanical strength, durability,
and resistance to water. The results show that combining flocculation (the clumping step) with reβsolidification can produce a zeroβemission wasteβmanagement system that works on site. The guide that comes with the study helps engineering students see how the chemicals interact, how the final material performs, and what environmental benefits come from recycling this industrial waste. This practical framework can be used to design sustainable wasteβuse systems, linking waste creation with resource recovery in civil and environmental engineering projects.
