CONTROL SYSTEM WATERJET CUTTING PROCESS Project Details
| Abstract |
This research looks at the problems of conventional abrasive waterβjet cutting: it works slowly, the tool wears out quickly, and it struggles with thick metal parts. To fix these issues, we propose a new method that adds a swirl to the waterβjet. The swirling flow lets the abrasive grains cut more effectively and increases the area where the jet contacts the workpiece. A control system changes the jetβs oscillation frequency based on the thickness of the material being cut. By giving the jet a rotational motion, the kinetic energy of the abrasive particles is spread out more evenly, which speeds up material removal and lowers surface roughness. The project covers
three main tasks: * building a mathematical model of the swirling jet, * running fluidβdynamic simulations, and * designing the control system that will manage the swirl. Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and controlβloop simulations, we study how swirl intensity, oscillation frequency, and cutting depth are linked. The resulting framework offers a clear path for creating advanced fluidβjet machining tools that can adapt their cutting parameters on the fly.
