pollution spikes through the internet of things is a B.Tech project topic for Environmental Engineering. It gives students a clear starting point for research, implementation planning, and documentation.
pollution spikes through the internet of things Project Details
| Abstract |
Rapid growth of cities and more vehicles on the road are creating short, intense bursts of air pollution that fixed monitoring stations often miss. To fill this gap, we are building a prototype that watches trafficβrelated pollution spikes with an Internet of Things (IoT) edge network. Small sensor nodes will sit at the roadside. Each node carries electrochemical and optical gas sensors that measure realβtime levels of particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) and gases such as carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). The nodes use edgeβcomputing techniques to handle raw data on the spot. They filter out highβfrequency noise and flag unusual spikes before sending a summarized report to
a cloud platform. Processing locally cuts down the amount of data that travels over the network and speeds up the detection of anomalies. The overall system includes lowβpower microcontrollers, wireless communication modules, and a cloudβbased dashboard for visualizing the results. This setup gives environmentalβengineering students a handsβon way to study local emission patterns. It is designed to be scalable and inexpensive, providing highβresolution urban airβquality data that can support targeted trafficβmanagement actions.
