IoT – Automatic Electrical Appliance Project Details
| Abstract |
This project presents the design and implementation of a smart home automation prototype aimed at improving energy efficiency and operational convenience through the Internet of Things (IoT). The proposed system integrates a dual-interface architecture comprising a hardware control unit and a software application interface. The hardware framework utilizes an ESP8266 (ESP12E) Wi-Fi module interfaced with an Arduino Nano microcontroller to manage the switching states of various domestic electrical appliances via relay modules. Communication between the user and the physical hardware is facilitated via a dedicated smartphone application, enabling remote monitoring and control over local Wi-Fi networks. To ensure secure and organized operation, the system incorporates a multi-user access control mechanism
managed by a primary administrator, who regulates permissions for secondary users. By enabling automated and remote scheduling of electrical loads, the system minimizes standby power consumption and optimizes overall energy usage. This implementation guidance provides a structured approach for undergraduate students to understand wireless sensor networks, microcontroller interfacing, and mobile application integration in modern electrical systems.
