RECENT STUDIES ORGANIC DIPOLAR ELECTRONIC Project Details

Abstract

This project helps you design and analyze high‑performance electro‑optic (EO) modulators that use organic dipolar materials. Today’s communication and signal‑processing systems need ultra‑broadband operation from the gigahertz (GHz) up to the terahertz (THz) range. To meet that need, silicon‑organic hybrid (SOH) and plasmonic‑organic hybrid (POH) technologies are becoming strong candidates. We start by reviewing how organic chromophores produce EO activity and then look at how to embed them in nanophotonic structures so the electrical and optical fields overlap as much as possible. The main goals are to lower the π‑voltage‑length product and to keep insertion losses small. The project sets up a simulation‑based evaluation framework. You will be guided through

modeling both the optical and electrical behavior of SOH and POH modulators with standard numerical simulation tools. The analysis focuses on three key performance metrics: – Bandwidth – Energy efficiency – Device footprint By working through these steps, you will gain a clear picture of how electronics, photonics, and plasmonics can be integrated on a chip. The approach gives you a practical way to assess next‑generation optoelectronic components for high‑speed signal‑processing applications.
