The Impact Different Bracing Ratios Project Details

Abstract

This project gives step‑by‑step guidance for checking how multi‑story planar steel frames behave and buckle when the bracing ratio changes. Using finite‑element analysis in SAP2000, we model four bracing layouts: diagonal, inverted V, X and K. The main goal is to see how different bracing densities and patterns affect lateral displacement, overall stability and load‑carrying capacity. By simulating buckling in multi‑story frames, we create a quantitative method for optimizing steel‑frame designs. Our approach tries to balance safety with material efficiency. It helps identify the best bracing ratios that lower construction costs and steel use while still meeting aesthetic and architectural goals. The analytical models produced here give structural engineers a

solid reference for increasing lateral stiffness and avoiding buckling in high‑rise steel structures. Through comparative parametric studies, the resource pinpoints the thresholds where each bracing configuration outperforms the others under lateral loads.
