A New SMO Speed Estimation Project Details
| Abstract |
This study looks at the stability and accuracy problems that appear in sensorless inductionβmotor drives when they run at zero or very low speeds. Conventional slidingβmode observers (SMOs) often become unstable, give wrong speed estimates because they ignore flux errors, and produce highβfrequency chattering due to the discontinuous sign function. To fix these issues, the paper proposes a new SMO design with three main improvements: – **New feedbackβgain method:** a different way to set the feedback gain that keeps the system stable during lowβspeed operation. – **Fluxβerror compensation:** a technique that corrects flux errors, which makes speed estimates more accurate in both dynamic and steadyβstate conditions. – **Continuous switching function:**
replaces the traditional sign function with a smooth function, greatly reducing chattering. Detailed simulations at zero and low speeds show that the new observer tracks the motor more accurately and produces far less chattering. For M.Tech researchers, this framework offers a solid base for modeling, simulating, and testing advanced sensorless control strategies in MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools.
