This paper examines the main barriers to, and the determining factors for, the successful implementation of automation in the textile industry through the lens of the fourth industrial revolution and innovative information technologies. The authors aim to demonstrate the extent to which the fourth industrial revolution optimizes both operational and managerial processes within the textile industry. The authors focus on the automation of all field sensors, the effective operational scheduling of machines, automated assembly and optimized production line processes. Moreover, the authors attempt to analyze the use of smart controllers, as well as machine learning, to automate the configuration and organization of devices. The paper reviews a wide array of

learning algorithms, as well as the role of information technologies in the textile industry, which enable the fusion of intelligent algorithms with smart devices and enhance the operational and production efficiency of an enterprise. The authors provide numerous illustrations to substantiate their argument regarding the impact of financial investments, improvements in production quality, and state support on the above issues. In order to analyze the need for the automation of the textile industry and to integrate with Industry 4.0 technologies, the authors rely on real-time data collected from textile industry centers in Tamil Nadu, South India.
