Driven-Right-Leg Three-Op-Amp Achieving High Common Project Details

Abstract

This project uses simulations to study a high‑performance biopotential acquisition interface that reduces power‑line interference (PLI) in wearable sensors. The circuit has two stages. The first stage is a three‑op‑amp instrumentation amplifier. The second stage adds an active Driven‑Right‑Leg (DRL) feedback loop. The main goal is to boost the Common‑Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) while keeping noise, power use, and power sharing between stages under control. By giving the first amplification stage more power, the design suppresses common‑mode signals early, before later processing. The DRL loop works by measuring the common‑mode voltage and sending a compensating current back to the reference node. This actively cancels the 60 Hz line noise. All

performance predictions were built and checked in LTspice. The simulation framework lets us examine noise behavior, frequency response, and stability for precise mechatronic and biomedical sensor interfaces. Results show that allocating power strategically across the stages improves noise rejection without sacrificing overall power efficiency.
