Experimental Investigation Enhancement Heat Transfer Project Details
| Abstract |
This project looks at how to improve the thermal performance of a car radiator by using lowβconcentration hybrid nanofluids as alternative coolants. Traditional engine coolantsβmixtures of ethylene glycol and waterβhave low thermal conductivity, which limits how well modern, compact automotive cooling systems can get rid of heat. To overcome this, we create a hybrid nanofluid that contains reduced graphene oxide (RGO) and copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles dispersed in a base fluid of ethylene glycol and distilled water. The fluid is prepared and its properties are measured. The experiment tests heatβtransfer rates at very low nanoparticle volume fractions, starting at 0.001 %. We examine how fluid flow rate, inlet temperature, and
nanoparticle concentration affect the overall heatβtransfer coefficient and the Nusselt number. By recording temperature drops across the radiator under different conditions, we quantify how much cooling efficiency can improve when hybrid nanomaterials are added. The results give practical guidance for designing highβefficiency, compact automotive cooling systems that can be smaller and lighter.
