Fault Diagnosis Power System Hybrid Project Details

Abstract

Quickly and accurately finding faulty parts in modern power distribution networks is essential for keeping the system stable and cutting outage time. This research‑based project uses a hybrid Fuzzy‑Genetic Algorithm (FGA) to diagnose and locate faults in complex power systems. The method takes post‑fault data from circuit breakers and protective relays to separate healthy sections from isolated faulty ones. It builds membership functions for each possible defective segment, and a fuzzy logic controller evaluates how likely each zone is to have a fault. At the same time, a Genetic Algorithm adjusts the membership parameters and searches the solution space, speeding up the pinpointing of the exact faulty section and the

malfunctioning circuit breakers. This hybrid approach reduces memory use and processing time compared with traditional lookup‑table methods. The framework gives step‑by‑step guidance for modeling power networks, simulating many fault scenarios, and testing the diagnostic accuracy of the FGA when telemetry data are noisy or incomplete. It serves as a simulation‑based tool for analyzing system reliability and protection coordination.
