Impact Climate Change CC Guava Project Details
| Abstract |
This project studies how climate change affects water and the environment for guava (Psidium guajava L.) crops, especially in SouthβEast Asian farming basins. In the last few decades, rain patterns have shifted, average temperatures have risen, and extreme events like long summer droughts and erratic monsoon rains have become more common. These changes have strongly altered plant growth and reproductive cycles. We build a clear framework to model these climateβdriven variations by comparing historical weather data with the cropβs specific water needs. By simulating soilβmoisture changes, evapotranspiration rates, and temperatureβrelated timing shifts, we measure how vulnerable horticultural systems are to water stress. Our method combines hydrological modeling tools with climateβprojection
scenarios to evaluate water availability during the critical flowering and fruiting stages. The results help develop flexible waterβresource management plans, betterβtimed irrigation schedules, and forwardβlooking agricultural policies aimed at reducing the negative impact of climate variability on highβvalue crop yields and regional food security.
