modeling nonlinear predictive control fully actuated Project Details
| Abstract |
This project models, designs the control system for, and simulates a new fully actuated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that is built to cut down on fluid sloshing when carrying hazardous liquids. Standard multirotor drones are underactuated, meaning their translation and rotation are tightly linked. That coupling makes the liquid inside slosh a lot and can destabilize the flight. To overcome this, we create a fully actuated mechanical layout and describe its motion with both NewtonβEuler and EulerβLagrange equations. These equations let us actively separate (decouple) translational movement from rotational movement. The control system uses a hybrid approach: a Clustered ProportionalβIntegralβDerivative (PID) controller works together with a Nonlinear Model Predictive Control
(NMPC) algorithm. Together they keep the cabin almost level during flight. We test the system in several situations: – ideal, disturbanceβfree flight – sudden step disturbances – continuous sinusoidal wind profiles By keeping the attitude dynamics separate from sideways motion, the controller greatly reduces sloshing caused by vehicle tilting. This leads to safer, more accurate trajectory tracking. The work also provides stepβbyβstep guidance for simulating multiβbody dynamics and for applying advanced predictive control methods to improve the safety of aerial liquid transport.
