OBTAINING BULK PRODUCTS CU-SIC METAL-MATRIX Project Details
| Abstract |
This research direction focuses on the synthesis and characterization of copper-silicon carbide (Cu-SiC) metal-matrix composites designed for high-efficiency thermal management applications in advanced computing architectures. To address the critical heat dissipation challenges in high-power electronic devices, bulk Cu-10%SiC composite specimens are fabricated using spark plasma sintering (SPS) technology. The consolidation process is investigated across a temperature range of 700 Β°C to 850 Β°C under a constant uniaxial pressure of 60 MPa. The methodology involves evaluating the influence of sintering temperature on the densification behavior, microstructural evolution, phase composition, and resultant thermophysical properties of the composite. Analytical techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) are utilized to
assess interfacial bonding and phase distribution. The project provides comprehensive guidance on evaluating the correlation between processing parameters and the thermal conductivity, hardness, and relative density of the sintered compacts. Ultimately, this research framework supports the development of optimized metal-matrix composites capable of meeting the stringent thermal dissipation requirements of modern energy-efficient heat-conducting systems.
