RECENT STUDIES ORGANIC DIPOLAR ELECTRONIC Project Details
| Abstract |
This project helps you design and analyze highβperformance electroβoptic (EO) modulators that use organic dipolar materials. Todayβs communication and signalβprocessing systems need ultraβbroadband operation from the gigahertz (GHz) up to the terahertz (THz) range. To meet that need, siliconβorganic hybrid (SOH) and plasmonicβorganic hybrid (POH) technologies are becoming strong candidates. We start by reviewing how organic chromophores produce EO activity and then look at how to embed them in nanophotonic structures so the electrical and optical fields overlap as much as possible. The main goals are to lower the Οβvoltageβlength product and to keep insertion losses small. The project sets up a simulationβbased evaluation framework. You will be guided through
modeling both the optical and electrical behavior of SOH and POH modulators with standard numerical simulation tools. The analysis focuses on three key performance metrics: – Bandwidth – Energy efficiency – Device footprint By working through these steps, you will gain a clear picture of how electronics, photonics, and plasmonics can be integrated on a chip. The approach gives you a practical way to assess nextβgeneration optoelectronic components for highβspeed signalβprocessing applications.
