Research seat active noise control Project Details
| Abstract |
Locomotive driver cabins are plagued by strong lowβfrequency, structureβborne noise that can hurt health and reduce comfort. Conventional active noise control (ANC) systems that sit in the seat headrest limit the driverβs movement, and largeβarea spatial ANC systems often give only modest noise reduction because they have to cover a big space. This study presents a groundβbased test platform that evaluates seatβmounted ANC using farβpoint secondary speakers. By placing the speakers away from the headrest, the driverβs motion is not restricted. The method measures how well reference acoustic signalsβtaken from the chair and from the floorβmatch the sound at the driverβs left ear. Experiments show that both reference setups achieve
similar active noise reduction, about 4.5 dB(A), over a wide frequency range from 50 Hz to 5000 Hz. The work lays the groundwork for designing and modeling nonβintrusive ANC systems in industrial cabins. Because the abstract provides limited detail, the specific control algorithms and the exact placement of the secondary sources should be validated further during implementation.
