Spatial Modeling Flood-Vulnerability as Basic is a M.Tech project topic for Civil Engineering. It gives students a clear starting point for research, implementation planning, and documentation.
Spatial Modeling Flood-Vulnerability as Basic Project Details
| Abstract |
This research project offers a complete framework for creating and testing spatial models that evaluate flood risk in cities, using Pontianak City as a case study. The method combines important biophysical factors with two different modeling approaches: the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and logical formulation techniques. By assigning scores and weights to key environmental parameters, the study maps the spatial distribution of floodβprone areas and classifies them into risk levels from safe to highly vulnerable. A performance comparison shows that the logical formulation model reaches 84 % accuracy, while the AHPβbased model reaches 80 % accuracy. Model validation gives a Kappa accuracy of 76.7 %. The spatial analysis finds that
about 29.11 % of the study area falls into the βvery high vulnerabilityβ category, pointing to critical zones that need immediate action. The project serves as academic guidance for building spatial decisionβsupport systems. It provides a solid method for urban planners and environmental engineers to design focused floodβmitigation policies, improve drainage infrastructure, and boost disaster preparedness in lowβlying coastal cities.
