Sustainable electric bus operations model: source and project details

Research overview

Moving cities toward low‑carbon transport means we need solid ways to run electric buses that don’t follow a set scheduleβ€”think charter trips, tourist tours, or on‑demand services. Unlike regular bus lines, these operations face wildly changing passenger demand, routes that shift from day to day, and charging spots that aren’t always available. This overview looks at the Sustainable Electric Vehicle BUS Model (SEVBUS). SEVBUS is an operational measurement system that pulls together technical data, service performance, cost information, and sustainability metrics. It turns scattered operational evidence into 48 measurable indicators grouped into 19 first‑order factors, all linked under one higher‑order construct.

The model was tested in a real‑world study from January to April 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. Researchers used a Delphi process with 13 experts and surveyed 400 stakeholders. Because only the indexed abstract and bibliographic data were examined, the detailed structural‑equation implementation is not included here. For M.Tech students, SEVBUS offers a clear framework for: – simulating unscheduled electric‑bus fleets, – figuring out where to place charging stations, and – optimizing dispatch decisions when demand is uncertain.

Message: Hi FE, I need help with “Toward sustainable electric bus operations: a multidimensional structural model for future mobility management” in “Environmental Engineering”

Project or research direction

This is a source-backed research starting point, not a tested, ready-made student project. Any implementation requires independent feasibility, safety and results verification.

Possible tools or components to evaluate

Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) software (e.g., SmartPLS, AMOS), Python (for data preprocessing and visualization), GIS tools (for spatial route mapping), statistical analysis packages (R or SPSS)

Suggested verification steps

  1. Read the cited paper and check which methods, parameters and results it actually reports.
  2. Define a measurable project objective and list equipment or software you can access.
  3. Validate the proposed approach independently before claiming results, working code or experimental success.

Implementation ideas above are planning suggestions, not claims that the cited researchers built or tested those exact extensions.
