The work focuses on three municipal plants in central Iraq: Al‑Barakiya, Al‑Maymira, and Al‑Rustamiyah. Researchers collected physical, chemical, and biological water‑quality data from each plant for a full year. The analysis tracks the change from raw influent to treated effluent, creating a single number that reflects environmental performance. The raw‑water WQI scores were: * Al‑Rustamiyah – 81.232 * Al‑Maymira – 79.307 * Al‑Barakiya – 80.931 After treatment, the effluent WQI values rose to between 94.620 and 94.718, which falls
into the “good” quality category. By using this systematic evaluation, the research gives municipal officials a clear tool to fine‑tune treatment processes, manage resource use, and reduce secondary environmental impacts.
