Multi-Criteria Optimization Microwave-Cured Pineapple Leaf Project Details
| Abstract |
Natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites present a sustainable alternative to conventional synthetic materials, yet optimizing their processing parameters remains critical for maximizing mechanical performance. This research direction investigates the multi-criteria optimization of biocomposites fabricated from pineapple leaf fibers (PALF) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) under microwave curing conditions. Microwave curing offers rapid, volumetric heating, which can significantly alter the interfacial bonding and thermal properties of the composite compared to conventional thermal methods. The methodology focuses on evaluating the influence of key processing variablesβsuch as fiber loading, microwave power, exposure duration, and chemical treatment of fibersβon the resulting tensile, flexural, and impact strengths. By employing multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques, such as Taguchi-Grey relational
analysis or Response Surface Methodology (RSM), the optimal combination of parameters is systematically determined. This research-backed framework provides comprehensive implementation support for evaluating the microstructural characteristics and mechanical behavior of PALF/LDPE composites, establishing a robust foundation for sustainable material design in structural and semi-structural engineering applications.
